Rabbit Health Check

I have a black male dwarf / lionhead cross rabbit.

My dad accidentally stepped on him and we noticed that he was vomiting blood afterwards.

This was a couple of days ago and now my rabbit has since gone back to being his usual self.

Should I take him to a vet for a check-up as I'm scared he might have some internal injuries?

Hi Beatrice,

Your poor bunny! Yes yes yes, please take him to the vet immediately!

Blood from any area is an indication of something more serious.

Rabbits are very good at hiding pain and suffering as showing any weakness makes them appear more vulnerable. As a prey species a weak, sick rabbit would normally be targeted first by a predator in the wild. Thus rabbits have adapted they 'cover-up' skills very well.

Your bunny could very well be suffering internal bleeding and be in severe pain, but you would not know it just to look at him.

Please get him checked out to be on the safe side :-)
